  THE SCHUERMAN ARMS SA40

The SA40 is a bolt action rifle that incorporates the features and capabilities most desired by knowledgeable riflemen.  From its inception, this rifle has been designed for absolute reliability, safety and ease of use.

After a century of refining and modifying the basic Mauser M98 design it seemed that no significant further improvement was possible.  For any quantum improvement in bolt action rifles to occur, a  new design was necessary.  The  SA40 is a totally new concept in bolt action rifle design.  It is not just another remake of the venerable Mauser M98 as are most bolt action rifles today.

The SA40 retains the important innovations of the past and incorporates them into a modern design.  A key feature of the design is the integration of controlled round feeding with a fully enclosed case head, usually mutually exclusive features.  Controlled round feeding provides foolproof functioning by preventing double loading while the fully enclosed case head helps contain gas and brass blowback in the event of a case head rupture.

With these features, the SA40 is a rifle that is user friendly and smooth functioning.  The bolt lift and travel are smooth and positive.  Working  the action gives the shooter a sense of complete control of the mechanism.  The SA40 is available chambered in many of today's highest performance standard and magnum cartridges.

The SA-40 was designed with CAD [computer aided design] and CAM [computer aided manufacturing] software.  The action is produced in house with modern precision CNC [computer numerical controlled] equipment.  Precision tolerances are maintained.  Great care is taken during  manufacturing to maintain concentricity, that is, keeping the outside diameters of the parts centered with the barrel bore.  The finest stainless steels heat treated for maximum strength are used.  Aircraft grade aluminum is used in some parts to reduce weight.

The SA40 has been tested at the prestigious H.P. White Laboratory and has passed the industry standard drop safety tests.  In addition it was subjected to destructive pressure testing and was fired at 120,000 psi with no change in headspace.
