SA40  FEATURES

  • Rotating locking lugs with front of action locking.  This results in minimal dynamic action stretch compared to rear locking.
  • Three locking lug arrangement with large bearing and shear area provides exceptional locking strength.  The precisely fitted bolt and three lug arrangement provide a more stable bolt face during firing.
  • Controlled round feeding to prevent double loading of cartridges, most important in critical or dangerous situations.
  • Fully enclosed case head with a self sealing ejector and extractor supports and seals the breech to help contain case head rupture.
  • Short bolt travel speeds bolt cycling. It provides one of the shortest travels for a given cartridge length.  Even in long magnum cartridge length configuration the shooter can cycle the bolt without moving the face from its position on the stock.
  • Short bolt handle lift of 70 degrees provides rapid bolt cycling with good hand-scope clearance.
  • Overall length of the action is shorter for a given cartridge length.  This combined with thick action side walls makes for an extremely rigid action which contributes to accuracy.  The shorter action length allows for a longer barrel for the same overall weapon length.
  • Three position positive sear and trigger locking safety allows cycling of bolt with the safety on or locking of bolt handle in the down position.  Safety is virtually silent.
  • The staggered column, center feed magazine virtually eliminates feeding jams.  Due to the short distance from the magazine to the chamber the bullet has already entered the chamber before the cartridge is released from the feed lips.  The cartridge is fed directly into the chamber making for a snag free chambering and undamaged bullet tips.
  • Detachable drop free box magazine for rapid loading and unloading.  Magazine is of heavy duty construction, precision machined. Three round capacity in magnum, four in standard.  Ambidextrous magazine release button.

Mark took this wonderful sable and leopard using his SA40 chambered in .300 Weatherby.

  • Optional hinged floorplate.
  • Positive controlled ejection, allowing the operator to control the cartridge ejection force.  The ejector is extremely sturdy and self sealing.
  • Fully shrouded and gas blocking rear bolt sleeve. There are no locking lug raceways or openings to channel gas into the shooter's face in the event of case rupture.
  • Visible and tactile firing pin cocking indicator. Lightweight firing pin for rapid lock time to increase accuracy.
  • Extra thick and extended recoil lug to provide greater action stability in the stock.
  • Large and robust extractor, self sealing, virtually unbreakable. The extractor grips the cartridge rim more firmly the harder the extraction becomes.
  • Target grade three lever trigger. Trigger safety provides an extra margin of safety.
  • Large top loading port allowing easy loading of individual cartridges into chamber or magazine without removing magazine.
  • Stainless steel construction.
  • Match quality free floating stainless steel barrel. Precision recessed crown.  20 to 26 inch length.
  • Rifle stock is a sporter style laminated reinforced all weather fiberglass.
  • Each rifle is supplied with a two piece scope base that will accept Weaver-style rings from various manufacturers.  The bases are attached with heavy duty 8-40 screws.  Optional integral base-ring mounts are available.  Optional open sights.

This rifle is chambered in 375 Ruger.  It also has the optional barrel band swivel.
